The Carolina Panthers have signed four free agents, including unrestricted free agent safety Deke Cooper from the San Francisco 49ers, the team announced Monday.
Cooper (6-2, 210 pounds) appeared in one game for San Francisco last year and notched one special teams tackle and one fumble recovery. In four NFL seasons with Carolina, Jacksonville and San Francisco, he has played in 57 games with 22 starts and has recorded 190 tackles, three interceptions, 12 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Cooper entered the League as an undrafted rookie free agent from Notre Dame with Arizona in 2000. Cooper played in 10 games for Carolina in 2002.
